“Study the past, if you would divine the future”
Yehua Fan, founder of YEHUAFAN, works across rigorous British tailoring, Japanese draping, and her own Chinese heritage. She draws from deconstructivist architecture to rework established tailoring structures, shifting functional components within the garments.
Her patternmaking is asymmetrical and interdependent, relocating such basic elements as pockets into lapels or moving traditional front closure to the back. Each part is drafted in relation to the whole, but keeping its own authority within itself, she produces garments built through structural displacement and recalibrated proportion
